Chengdu has two airports: Shuangliu International Airport (CTU, 16km southwest) and Tianfu International Airport (TFU, 50km southeast). Shuangliu serves many domestic and some international routes; Tianfu opened in 2021 and handles additional domestic and international flights. Both airports have metro connections: Line 10 to Shuangliu (15 minutes) and Line 18 to Tianfu (50 minutes). Airport shuttle buses run to the city center. Taxis from Shuangliu cost 50-70 RMB; from Tianfu 100-130 RMB. Direct international flights connect to Europe, Middle East, Southeast Asia, and North America.

Chengdu East Railway Station is the high-speed rail hub, with trains to Xi'an (3-4h), Chongqing (1.5h), Leshan (1h), Emeishan (1.5h), and Beijing (7-8h). Chengdu South Station serves some high-speed routes. The Chengdu-Lhasa train (Qinghai-Tibet route) departs from Chengdu Station, taking 43 hours. High-speed trains to Jiuzhaigou (Huanglong Station) opened in 2024. Metro Lines 2 and 7 connect Chengdu East Station to the city center. Book via 12306.cn; foreign passports supported.

Buses to Leshan depart from Chengdu Xinnanmen Bus Station (2 hours, 50 RMB). Buses to Jiuzhaigou depart from Chadianzi Bus Station (8-10 hours, 170 RMB) — flights are recommended instead. Buses to Mount Emei depart from Xinnanmen (2 hours). Buses to Dujiangyan depart from Chengdu Railway Station bus hub (1 hour, 25 RMB). For Daocheng Yading, flights from Chengdu (1 hour) are strongly recommended over the 2-day bus journey.

Chengdu's metro has 13+ lines covering all major attractions, including the Panda Base (Line 3 + shuttle bus), Kuanzhai Alley (Line 4), and Wuhou Shrine (Line 3). Fares are 2-10 RMB. Taxis start at 8-9 RMB. Didi ride-hailing is widely available with English app support. For the Panda Base, take Metro Line 3 to Panda Avenue Station, then the free shuttle bus or a taxi (10 RMB). Bicycle sharing is convenient for the city center. The Chengdu Tianfu Tong transport card works on metro and buses.
