History & Background

The Pagoda of Six Harmonies (Liuhe Pagoda), built in 970 AD during the Wuyue Kingdom, stands 60m tall on Yuelun Hill overlooking the Qiantang River. The octagonal brick-and-wood structure was originally nine stories but now has seven visible exterior levels. It was built to suppress the Qiantang River tidal bore.
