Huaqing Palace

A Tang dynasty imperial hot spring palace at the foot of Mount Li, famous for the love story of Emperor Xuanzong and Yang Guifei.

History & Background

Huaqing Palace has been an imperial hot spring resort for over 3,000 years, dating back to the Western Zhou dynasty. It flourished during the Tang dynasty under Emperor Xuanzong, who frequented the palace with his consort Yang Guifei. The site is also famous for the 1936 Xi'an Incident, where Chiang Kai-shek was arrested.
