History & Background

The Bund is Shanghai's iconic waterfront promenade along the Huangpu River. Following the 1842 Treaty of Nanking, foreign concessions were established, and the Bund became the financial center of Asia. The 52 buildings along the 1.5km stretch showcase Romanesque, Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque, and Art Deco styles, earning it the nickname "Museum of International Architecture."
