Namtso Lake, meaning "Heavenly Lake," sits at 4,718m, making it one of the highest saltwater lakes in the world. Covering 1,920 square kilometers, it is the largest lake in Tibet. The lake is sacred to both Buddhists and Bon practitioners. Nyenchen Tanglha mountain rises to 7,111m on the northern shore.
